How I Turned My Love for Cleaning into a Thriving Business in Just 2 Years: A Personal Success Story

Two years ago, I found myself lost and overwhelmed by a nagging voice that kept saying, “You need to do better.” “What are you doing?” It wasn’t easy, and I felt unsure of my next step. After leaving my full-time bartending job and stepping away from everything I loved, I was at a crossroads.


Then came the question that would change everything: "Who will clean this?" Skylar, my husband, asked about our new short-term rental. Without missing a beat, I responded, "I could definitely do that."


And just like that, everything clicked. I realized that cleaning wasn’t just something I could do—it was something I had done my whole life. Growing up, my parents owned over 17 rental properties. I was always by my mother’s side, scrubbing floors, organizing spaces, and even volunteering to clean the bathroom or organize files in the office at just 7 years old.

These early experiences gave me an appreciation for cleanliness and organization, which followed me into my career in the restaurant industry. But, as much as I thrived in that hustle, I realized my true passion wasn’t in the chaos—it was in creating clean, organized spaces.


The Spark: Starting My Own Business

I knew it was time to embrace my passion and turn it into something real. No more side jobs—this would be a full-on business. Thus, Starin Cleaning Services was born.

Starting with just myself, a small, breaking-down car, and no connections in a new state 2,000 miles from home, the journey was daunting. But with one loyal client trusting me, everything began to fall into place.


Building Something Bigger

Fast forward to now: Starin Cleaning Services has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. I lead a team of 4 amazing people, with a community of over 100 followers around the world. We’ve completed more than 250 bookings, with 36 repeat clients—something I truly cherish.

Each of these clients isn’t just a booking; they’re part of a relationship built on trust and reliability.


Paying It Forward: Clean It Forward Program

The greatest joy, however, is being able to give back. Through our “Clean It Forward” program, we offer free cleaning services to low-income families, hoarders, and individuals recovering from natural disasters. This program allows me to help those who need it most and see firsthand the difference a clean space can make in someone's life.

Looking Ahead

It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come in just two short years. What started as a dream is now a thriving reality, and every day brings new opportunities and challenges. The cleaning industry continues to evolve, and I’m excited for what’s next.
